Romania has initiated consultations with various entities to establish a coordination structure for the safety of journalists.

These entities include the Romanian Union of Journalists - MediaSind, ActiveWatch -a non-governmental, not-for-profit media watchdog organization, the Ministry of the Interior (including the leadership of the gendarmerie and police), the Ministry of Justice, the General Prosecutor, the Superior Council of Magistrates, and the Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization.

The creation of a "government-non-government structure for the national chapter of the campaign" would also fulfill the requirements outlined in the European Commission's Recommendation 2021/1534 on the protection, safety, and empowerment of journalists.
