The Project “Support to Safety of Journalists, Media, and of Access to Information, including communication strategy for Prosecutor General’s Office in Ukraine” (SJM-SCOM) aims to support the Ukrainian media community in addressing current needs and consequences of the Russian aggression and war in Ukraine. It is implemented in the framework of Priority adjustment to the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2018-2022.

Conference: “Freedom of expression: still a precondition for democracy?” Strasbourg, 13-14 October, 2015 Over 400 participants, who attended the conference on 13-14 October in Strasbourg, assessed the major challenges facing freedom of expression today. The rich and intense debates raised real but constructive controversies regarding crucial issues concerning effective means for the preservation and protection of a free and safe environment for free expression.
Since 2015, the Platform for the Protection of Journalism and Safety of Journalists serves to facilitate the compilation, processing and dissemination of information on serious concerns about media freedom and safety of journalists in Council of Europe member States. Alerts are posted by contributing partners - international NGOs and associations of journalists - and can be replied to by the States concerned. Partner organisations to the Platform publish annual reports on the situation of media freedom and safety of journalists in Europe.
