Autumn School on Human Rights, Fundamental Freedoms and the Internet

On 14-17 November 2016 the Council of Europe in partnership with the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova (NIJ) organized the Autumn School on Human Rights, Fundamental Freedoms and the Internet aimed at 40 judges and prosecutors selected from all districts of the Republic of Moldova.

The Autumn school was held as part of the development of the Handbook on Internet and Human Rights for the National Institute of Justice devised by Council of Europe experts in co-operation with local experts.

The event covered the European standards and best practices introduced by the experts as well as the national context and regulation presented by public agencies, on the following issues: Internet regulation and protection of human rights online, access and non-discrimination, right to privacy and data protection, freedom of expression and information, freedom of assembly, association and participation online, cybersecurity and surveillance, copyright and trademark protection, effective remedies.

The event has been organised within the framework of the joint CoE/EU Programme “Strengthening the respect for human rights in the implementation of the Republic of Moldova's Digital Agenda”.
