The Luxembourg Criminal Code as modified in 2023 (Loi du 7 août 2023 portant modification du Code pénal) includes new rules for attacks against journalists during demonstrations. Persons who express potential threats can be subject to imprisonment, with an aggravating factor if the target of the threat is a journalist. Furthermore, the modified Article 459 specifies that the disclosure of private and professional information (‘doxing’) can lead to criminal liability for the perpetrator; with again an aggravating factor if the target is a journalist.
