On 4 December 2023, Ms Artemiza Tatiana Chisca participated in the fourth edition of the European News Media Forum (ENMF2023), held online and in Brussels. The News Media Forum was set up under the Media and Audiovisual Action Plan to engage in regular exchanges with the industry and other media stakeholders. The fourth edition focused on the progress by Member States in implementing the 2021 Commission Recommendation on Safety of Journalists and displayed the findings of an independent external study on the topic.  

Following opening remarks by European Commission Vice-President Věra Jourová, in her introduction Ms Chisca addressed the recently launched Council of Europe Campaign for the Safety of Journalists, aimed at the effective implementation of existing standards on journalists’ safety, and presented the Implementation Guides to Recommendation CM/Rec(2016)4 on the protection of journalism and safety of journalists and other media actors.

She provided updates regarding the discussion on the draft Recommendation on Countering the Use of SLAPPs, and informed about current and future work carried out by under the authority of the Council of Europe Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI).
