The Council of Europe “Ending violence against women: multi-country programme” has finalised the assessment of the call for proposals for civil society organisations (CSOs). The initiative aims to support CSOs in developing and implementing communication and advocacy initiatives to raise awareness of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combatting violence against women and domestic violence (the Istanbul Convention) and promote positive narratives while addressing misinformation and harmful myths.
13 CSOs from 9 countries applied, demonstrating strong expertise in combating violence against women and domestic violence. The Council of Europe selected four projects which are planned to be implemented from April to November 2025 by the following civil society organisations:
- Hèlia (Spain)
- Kvinnojouren Jämtlands Län (Sweden)
- Mediation and Community Safety Center (Romania)
- Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies (Cyprus)
The selected projects will be carried out using the awareness-raising and advocacy methodology and tools jointly developed by the Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Division, Women Against Violence Europe Network (WAVE) and UN Women. Each project will tailor this methodology to reflect local realities, adapting the advocacy resources to their needs.
