The Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Division, in cooperation with Slovenia’s Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, will hold a conference on 20 March 2025, in Ljubljana, on the digital dimension of violence against women and girls. The event will bring together 50 experts and professionals to discuss the findings of a report on these growing forms of violence.
Developed under the Ending violence against women: multi-country programme, the report identifies key legal and practical challenges in addressing tech-facilitated violence in Slovenia. It highlights gaps in legislation, awareness, victim support, and cross-border cooperation. The report highlights the need for enhanced training for professionals, stronger legal protections, and more coordinated responses.
The conference will present the report’s findings, explore international best practices, and discuss solutions to combat tech-facilitated violence. Presentations will cover the need for comprehensive policies that address prevention, protection, and prosecution, with an emphasis on international cooperation.
An interactive session will look at international case studies, discussing how these could be adapted to Slovenia’s context to strengthen responses to digital violence. The event will provide an opportunity for participants to reflect on ways to enhance efforts to protect women and girls in the digital age.
