The Committee of Experts on Artificial Intelligence, Equality and Discrimination (GEC/ADI-AI) held its first plenary meeting on 20-21 February in Strasbourg. At this first meeting which marked the beginning of this significant work, members, participants, and observers to the GEC/ADI-AI discussed the preliminary outline of the draft Recommendation. The draft Recommendation will be based on the Study commissioned by GEC and CDADI as well as the work of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence, namely, the future Framework Convention on artificial intelligence, human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
The Committee of Experts on Artificial Intelligence, Equality and Discrimination (GEC/ADI-AI) elected Käthlin Sander (CDADI member, Estonia) as President and Radan Šafařík (GEC member, Czechia) as Vice-President.
GEC/ADI-AI is a subordinate body to both the Gender Equality Commission (GEC) and the Steering Committee on Anti-discrimination, Diversity and Inclusion (CDADI), and is tasked by the Committee of Ministers with drafting a Recommendation on the impact of artificial intelligence systems, their potential for promoting equality – including gender equality – and the risks they may cause in relation to non-discrimination.
