Council of Europe anti-corruption body publishes a report on Portugal

The Council of Europe’s anti-corruption group (GRECO) published today a compliance report on Portugal assessing the implementation of the 15 recommendations it issued to the country in a report adopted in December 2015 concerning measures to prevent and combat corruption in respect of members of parliaments, judges and prosecutors. Portugal has fully complied with one recommendation. Another eight recommendations have been partially implemented and six remain non implemented. GRECO concludes that the current very low level of compliance with the recommendations remains “globally unsatisfactory”.

The report published today was adopted by GRECO during its last plenary meeting, held from 17 to 21 June 2019. It has been published at the request of the Portuguese authorities, in accordance with GRECO´s rules.
