On 12 March 2021, the Council of Europe HELP course on Introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights was launched for a second group of 50 Greek judges and prosecutors, in cooperation with the Greek School of Judiciary.

Judge Ioannis Ktistakis, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in respect of Greece, addressed the course participants with an introduction to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and its position in the national legal order. Ioulietta Bisiouli, Lawyer in the Department for the Execution of the Judgments of the ECtHR, Council of Europe, provided an overview of the process of execution of the judgments of the ECtHR in the Greek context.

The launching event was opened by the General Director of the Greek School of Judiciary, Dimitrios Emmanouilidis and by the Head of the Council of Europe HELP Programme, Eva Pastrana.

The HELP Focal Point and national tutor, Petros Alikakos, introduced the participants to the HELP actions in Greece, the schedule for this HELP tutored course implementation and to the practical aspects of the navigation of the HELP online platform.

The second edition follows due to the significant interest of Greek legal professionals for the first edition of the course launched in October 2020. At the end of this second edition, the successful participants will be certified by the School of Judiciary and the Council of Europe HELP Programme.
