From 5 to 8 October 2022 ten representatives of the Judicial Academy of Croatia (JA) and the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Croatia before the European Court of Human Rights participated in a Study visit to the Center for Judicial Studies (CEJ) in Lisbon, Portugal. The visit was organised in the framework of the Project “Promotion of the rule of law and fundamental rights through high-quality online trainings in the Croatian Judiciary” implemented by the Council of Europe (CoE) in cooperation with the European Commission DG REFORM.
The aim of the Study visit was to share with the participants good practice from a selected EU member State that has developed advanced online training tools and services used in judicial training. The participants were able to get in only two days a complete overview of the functioning of this successful training institution. The presentations proposed by CEJ followed the needs of the participants and provided large scale of information for the representatives of various departments of the JA. In lively discussions with the CEJ representatives and trainers the participants were able to ask questions and get deeper insight in specific topics of interest, such as training methodologies and tools applied.
As a result of the Study visit, the participants gained a broad idea on the organization of a well-functioning training system, as well as a deeper understanding of how to successfully implement advanced online training tools and services, which may contribute to strengthen the capacity of the Judicial Academy to adequately meet the judiciary’s training needs through digital solutions.
The Centro de Estudos Judiciários, founded in 1979, provides initial and continuous training of judges and prosecutors, training of lawyers, solicitors and other justice agents, research and studies in the judicial sphere and international cooperation in training and judicial matters.
The Project “Promotion of the rule of law and fundamental rights through high-quality online trainings in the Croatian Judiciary” is funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument, and implemented by the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the European Commission.
