Participants to the ToT session were welcomed by Eva Pastrana, Head of Justice and Human Rights Training Division, Council of Europe, who gave an overview of the Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) Programme of the Council of Europe and its online platform that includes a catalogue of 40 courses on human rights, as well as to the “HELP in the Western Balkans” action.

During the ToT session, the participants were familiarised with the HELP e-learning platform and the HELP training methodology for legal professionals, including the role of the HELP tutor in preparing and implementing HELP online courses. They were further presented some of the newly developed and updated HELP online courses, including the course on Ethics for judges, prosecutors and lawyers and the course on International Co-operation in Criminal Matters.

HELP Training-of-Trainers sessions (ToTs) are a tool to support judiciary training institutions, Bar Associations and other actors to deliver high-quality trainings to legal professionals.

The goal of the HELP ToTs is to prepare participants to fulfil the role of HELP tutors for their respective institutions and to equip them with skills to successfully moderate a HELP on-line course in their respective beneficiaries. It focuses on the HELP methodology for legal professionals and on the HELP e-learning platform.

The ToT session was organised under the HELP in the Western Balkans action, part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
