On 19 March, the official website of the Ethics Committee for Healthcare Professionals of Armenia (Ethics Committee) was launched to mark a significant step toward promoting the mission and functions of the Ethics Committee such as the ethical standards, transparency, and professional integrity within the Armenian healthcare sector.
The Ethics Committee for Healthcare Professionals of Armenia is a newly established body founded in July 2023 through the support of the Council of Europe. As the first ever institution in its kind in Armenia, it has an important mandate of raising awareness on the human rights and ethical aspects of healthcare system through its functioning.
To enhance the effectiveness of the Ethics Committee, the Council of Europe continues supporting it through awareness raising campaigns on the human rights in healthcare, capacity-building, and other initiatives, including the development of its official website. The website was created with the aim to foster transparency, accountability and independence of the Ethics Committee, while also to make easier the process of applying to the Ethics Committee.
At the event the platform was also officially presented to the media highlighting its role in promoting the work of the Ethics Committee in Armenia. Media support is crucial in raising public awareness of the mission and responsibilities of the Ethics Committee.
The event was jointly organised by Ethics Committee for Healthcare Professionals and the Council of Europe as part of its Project “Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine III” implemented within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026.
