Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. Everyone is entitled to change his or her religion or conviction and is free to express that religion whether individually or collectively, publicly or privately. All recognised beliefs are protected by this right. One of the present-day issues of respect for freedom of thought, conscience and religion is embodied, at both international and national level, in the upsurge of religious intolerance.
