What is the role of the European Social Charter in strengthening the protection of social rights in Europe? This issue will be discussed at a seminar, organised by the Department of Social Rights on 8 December 2022 to mark the end of mandate of several members of the European Committee of Social Rights.

Discussions in the first panel will reflect on the current negotiations around the reform of the Charter machinery, as well as on the opportunities and challenges around social rights protection in Europe. The second panel will focus on the role of the Charter in respect of the future of work and workers’ rights, in particular workers in atypical forms of employment.

The event will take place in hybrid format in Strasbourg, France and it will be livestreamed. The working languages will be English and French, with simultaneous interpretation.

To register a physical presence in Palais de l’Europe or a remote active participation, please address your request to social.charter@coe.int.
