The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, organised under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation and the Russian Ministry of Justice, will take place in an online format, with participation of representatives of the Council of Europe and its expert bodies.

  • 20 May, 13:00 - 14:00 CEST: Ramin Gurbanov, President of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) will be one of the Speakers of the session on digitalisation and cybersecurity in courts ay, that will be broadcast live for registered media.
  • 20 May, 14:30 - 15:30 CEST: The Council of Europe co-organizes a session on the modernisation of national prison estates that will be broadcast in open access.
  • 21 May, 13:30 - 15:00 CEST: Christos Giakoumopoulos, Director General Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe will address the session Vaccination Against Covid-19: Rights, Obligations and Legal Implications moderated by Laurence Lwoff (Head of Bioethics Unit of the Human Rights Directorate of the Council of Europe) and broadcast in open access.

The 25th anniversary of the accession of Russia to the Council of Europe and the creation of the pan-European legal space will be the theme of a dedicated session held on 21 May from 11:30 - 13:00 (CEST) and broadcast with open access, in which Verena Taylor, the Head of the Office of the Directorate General of Programmes of the Council of Europe is expected to take part.
