The Conference, which took place in Nicosia on 10 December 2021, brought together prominent human rights experts from Cyprus and other European countries, including former and current judges of the European Court of Human Rights, Mr Georgios Serghides, Mr Yannis Ktistakis, and Mr Paul Lemmens.
The topics of two of the sessions, namely the right to a healthy environment and the legal aspects of euthanasia, reflect areas of growing interest in legal discourse. Interventions delivered at the event provided an overview of the respective national legislation and legal practice, challenges, as well as the development of the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights on these topics, and the work of the Council of Europe in this area.
