On February 28, 2024, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, Maciej Janczak, accompanied by representatives of the Council of Europe project "Fostering Human Rights in the Criminal Justice System in Ukraine", met with the leadership of the Prosecutors Training Center of Ukraine. The primary aim of the meeting was to introduce the leadership of the Prosecutors Training Center of Ukraine to the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine and to discuss further cooperation between the PTCU and the Council of Europe.
Maciej Janczak expressed gratitude to the Director of the Prosecutors Training Center, Ms. Olesia Otradnova, for their fruitful and successful cooperation and outlined various areas of collaboration between the Council of Europe and the PTCU. Mr. Janczak highlighted the extensive cooperation between the Council of Europe and the Office of the Prosecutor General, especially within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine, "Resilience, Recovery, and Reconstruction" for 2023-2026, and emphasized the importance of the PTCU's work in enhancing the professionalism of prosecutors.
Furthermore, Maciej Janczak informed about the availability of professional training through the HELP Project, particularly focusing on training for trainers, and encouraged the integration of HELP courses into the regular training of prosecutors in Ukraine.
Ms. Olesia Otradnova thanked the Council of Europe for its constant and valuable assistance, particularly highlighting the significance of projects such as "Fostering Human Rights in the Criminal Justice System in Ukraine" and the HELP Project. The Director of the Prosecutors Training Center outlined pressing needs and potential areas for further cooperation, focusing on strengthening the capacity of PTCU trainers, expanding training domains, and enhancing soft skills training for prosecutors.
