At the beginning of July 2021 several online Briefing the Trainers meetings between CPR trainers (judges and lawyers) from the UK, Ireland and Cyprus were organised under the Project. These meetings aim to serve as a platform for discussion and exchange of ideas and experience between international and national trainers. The participants discussed training methodology and training materials for the new Civil Procedure Rules (CPR). These discussions serve as a basis for the preparation of the national trainers who will act as facilitators of the future CPR trainings, which have been arranged for Cypriot lawyers and judges.

Five international trainers, three judges and two lawyers from the UK and Ireland shared their experience with the national trainers about similar training held in their jurisdictions following introduction of new rules of civil procedure. Those are: his Honour Nic Madge (Lead Expert Trainer of the Project, formerly Circuit Judge and senior trainer with the English and Welsh Judicial College), Sir John Gillen (formerly Lord Justice of Northern Ireland Court of Appeal), Mr Justice Seamus Noonan (Judge at the Court of Appeal, Ireland), and two barristers at Forum Chambers practicing in London: Mr David McIlroy and Mr Darragh Connell.

The meetings are organised under the Project on "Enhancing the Current Reform of the Court System and the Implementation Process as well as the Efficiency of Justice", funded by the European Commission and implemented by the Council of Europe. The general objective of the Project is to support reform of the court system in Cyprus to improve its efficiency. One of the main components under the Project is the development and implementation of training programmes and awareness-raising tools and activities to train judges, court staff and lawyers on the new Civil Procedure Rules.
