On 2-6 March, the project facilitated the second consultation week during which former judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and now Associate Professor at the University of Strasbourg - Ledi Bianku – held meetings and discussions with the judges and lawyers of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo*.
The program of Mr. Bianku’s visit to the Constitutional Court was based on request of the latter and was focused on consistency of the case law and role and functions of Jurist Consult within the Court. The former judge made presentation on the case law on Articles 13 and 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights (Convention), spoke about the ECtHR’s methods of case analysis and the interrelation of Articles 13 and 14 with other articles of the Convention.
In total, the project foresees three weeks of consultations of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo* with experts experienced with European Court of Human Rights, in addition to thematic workshops and internship program with the Court in Strasbourg. The project “Improving the Protection of European Human Rights Standards by the Constitutional Court” is funded by Norwegian government and implemented by the Council of Europe.
