On 19-20 October 2023, in the framework of its Visiting Professionals Scheme (VPS), the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) received the delegations from Azerbaijan, Latvia, and Slovenia. Representatives of the countries' supreme and constitutional courts gathered in Strasbourg to learn on matters of Know-How, drawn from the ECtHR’s own experience, as well as to exchange ideas and experiences between each other, thereby optimising the learning experience.

The visit was organised in the context of the Superior Courts Network.

Over the course of the two-day event, participants had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge on various relevant topics, from adapting working methods to emergencies to legal research, and ensuring the quality and consistency of case law.

This has become the second VPS event supported by the TJENI project by extending the invitation to one of its beneficiaries - Slovenia. A substantial part of the visit was dedicated to discussing tools for effective case management; digitalisation; as well as anonymisation and protection of personal data in proceedings.

The project “Foster Transparency of Judicial Decisions and Enhancing the National Implementation of the ECHR” (TJENI) is implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by the EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Regional Cooperation.
