Back Support to implementation of the law on the Treatment of Property in Albania

The Joint EU-Council of Europe Action “Supporting effective domestic remedies and facilitating the execution of the European Court of Human Rights judgements” continues to support Albanian judiciary to correctly apply of the European Court of Human Rights case law on the right to property and to effectively enforce the Law no. 133/2015 "On the treatment of property and the completion of the property compensation process" (Law).

In this context, an inter-institutional meeting was held on May 3 aiming at discussing a harmonised interpretation and application of the Law by the institutions responsible for its implementation.  The chairs of the Courts of Appeal, the First Instance Courts of Tirana and Durres, representatives from the State Advocacy Office and the Agency for the Treatment of Property exchanged their concerns and best practices based on their institutional practice. The necessity for regular dialogue and enhanced cooperation between the institutions with the aim to unify the implementation the Law was emphasised during the meeting. 

The Action “Supporting effective domestic remedies and facilitating the execution of judgments in Albania” is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe Horizontal Facility programme and implemented by the Council of Europe.
