Workshop on the Methodology for the Multi-Country Study identifying national best practices in the area of execution of the ECtHR judgments

During a workshop organised under the Project “Support to efficient domestic capacity for the execution of ECtHR judgments (Phase 1)” on 8 April, academics and experts from different CoE member states had the opportunity to discuss the Methodology for the development of a Multi-Country Study which will analyse existing national execution mechanisms and identify best practices and effective national models in light of Recommendation CM/Rec(2008)2 of the Committee of Ministers on efficient domestic capacity for rapid execution of judgments of the ECtHR.

The workshop's morning session concentarted on presenting and explaining the methodology and facilitating discussion among participating academics and experts. In the afternoon, focus shifted to the OCEAN Network presentation and discussions on how academic research can support the execution of ECtHR judgments.

The Multi-Country Study will be based on national studies carried out by selected academics and national experts already studying the subject of implementation of the ECHR and who possess prior relevant experience in the respective member States. The national studies will be based on the Methodology which provides detailed guidance and ensures that comparable data are collected and analysed.
