The research, analysis and improvement of national data collection systems relating to hate crime, in the beneficiary countries, is one of the priorities of the regional project funded by the European Union and by the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe "Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership". 

In relation to this, on 22 March 2021, the project organised a joint meeting of entities involved in the collection of disaggregated  data in the Republic of Moldova, namely: the General Prosecutor Office, Ministry of Justice, Equality Council, Superior Council of Magistracy, General Police Inspectorate, and the Agency for the Administration of Courts.

The meeting featured also representatives from Georgia, such as the General Prosecutor Office, for discussing and sharing the good practices on data collection in the Eastern Partnership.

The meeting aimed to present the activities undertaken by the project in the Republic of Moldova for combatting hate crime, and gave the possibility to participants to share their feedback, experience and proposals for the optimization of disaggregated data collection on discrimination, hate speech and hate crime in the Republic of Moldova.

The regional project “Strengthening the access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech in the Eastern Partnership” runs from 1 February 2019 to 31 December 2021, in the framework of the Partnership for Good Governance Programme, funded by the European Union and by the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The goal of the project is to strengthen access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate crime and hate speech through non-judicial redress mechanisms in Eastern Partnership countries, and the main expected result is the improvement of legislation on anti-discrimination, hate crime and hate speech and a more effective enforcement, in line with European human rights standards, in the beneficiary countries.
