To foster equal and inclusive work environment in private companies, and ensure effective responses in tackling discrimination, on July 19, 2024 the Council of Europe organised a training on the implementation of the Equality Policy with SPAR to Georgia. The event focused on the different forms of discrimination and harassment. In addition, the participants engaged in practical exercises to help them understand national and international anti-discrimination legislation and practises.
The training was a continuation of cooperation with SPAR Georgia which was launched last month through the adoption of an Equality and Diversity Policy Document facilitated by the Council of Europe. The document aims to create a work environment based on diversity, equality, and inclusivity. Furthermore, it aims to prevent employees from any form of discrimination, harassment, and victimisation. The training program will be conducted in series, throughout July-September, to ensure capacity building and sensitisation of SPAR Georgia’s middle and top managements, and its trainers.
The Council of Europe is fully committed to promote diversity and set more inclusive approaches to address discrimination, including by encouraging the private sector to create a safe work environment. To achieve this goal, the Council of Europe will continue cooperation with the sector to adopt and implement equality policies.
The training was organized with the support of the Council of Europe’s project ”Enhancing Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia”, which is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
