AI and discrimination course in Belgium
The hybrid training course on Artificial intelligence (AI) and discrimination is implemented in cooperation with the Belgian Ministry of Justice – SPF Justice, the Belgian equality body (Unia) and the Belgian Digital Transformation Office – FPS Policy and Support (BOSA). The online training presents current and future Belgian and European regulations and standards in the field of AI, algorithms, and non-discrimination law and identifies examples of algorithmic discrimination. It allows participants to discover case studies and promising practices for the legal treatment of these situations in various fields, in order to build the capacity of relevant actors to contribute to the fight against algorithmic discrimination.
The online training consists of four online modules which will be available from October 23 to December 18, 2023.
- Module 1: technology and equality - fundamental concepts
- Module 2: combating algorithm discrimination
- Module 3: algorithmic discrimination - illustrations in several areas
- Module 4: prospects for a new regulation of AI
A course launch event scheduled on 26 October 2023 (date to be confirmed), as well as a closing event scheduled on 18 December 2023, will be held at the SPF BOSA premises in Brussels. A seminar will also be organised online mid-term on 21 21November 2023. These different moments of exchange will notably make it possible to interact with experts, answer participants' questions and collectively reflect on joint initiatives and synergies.
The training is open to employees of government agencies working in the field of digitisation. We particularly encourage policy makers, staff of relevant regulators and employees of relevant ministries to participate.
The training is also open to representatives of civil society organisations working in the field of digitalisation.
