The Conference of INGOs is holding its General Assembly on 7-9 April 2025. It invites representatives from civil society organisations and all those interested to follow online its public session on 8 April afternoon at the following link . This session will be dedicated to:
- exchanges of views with the Ambassador of Malta on the upcoming presidency, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe and the Head of the Children's Rights Division and CoE Coordinator for the Rights of the Child
- a presentation and discussion of the results of the recent visit to Poland of the Committee on Migration Issues on the accommodation of migrants
- a presentation and discussion of a report on CINGO’s visit to North Macedonia in the end of 2024
- a debate on the situation of civil society in Georgia
Among the highlights in the other part sessions (restricted to members), CINGO will inter alia:
- hear interventions from representatives of the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) and European Economical and Social Committee
- hold a debate on the role of NGOs in conflict situations and recent developments in Ukraine,
- hold a debate on the civic space situation in Europe, hear a report by the President of the Expert Council on NGO Law.
CINGO will thereafter discuss two draft recommendations to the Council of Europe on the ongoing war of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and on the shrinking civic space and political developments. It will also examine a proposal for the creation of a new Committee for the International Volunteer Year 2026. The session on 7 April will be devoted to meetings of the thematic committees, information for new CINGO delegates, the work of its representatives in the various Council of Europe bodies, exchanges with the Secretariat on a draft guidance document to support engagement of the Council of Europe with Civil Society.
In parallel, on 8 April in the morning, a special youth event will be held on “International Roma Day: Literacy for Inclusion – Remembering the Past, Shaping the Future” (LINK for on-line participation).
