The CINGO Civil Society Committee on the Rights of the Child organised a free Webinar on Determining and Evaluating the Best Interests and Rights of Children in Parental Separation and Care Proceedings: exploring perspectives and best practices across Europe in English with experts and thought leaders across Europe and the opportunity for live online discussion on Tuesday 21 June 2022.
The following questions were addressed in six parallel workshops and two concluding panel discussions. Each workshop started with an introduction of the theme by a speaker followed by an exchange of views and experiences among participants:
1/ How are the recommendations from UN CRC CG 14 and 20 implemented in the activities of family professionals?

2/ The case of young children: What elements are considered to evaluate BIC of toddlers and infants (under 5-year-old)?

3/ How to promote the rights and wellbeing of older children and adolescents experiencing the care system?

4/ How to organise the defence of children and what are their possibility of recourse and support in cases of violence against their needs?
Speaker: Theoni Koufonikolakou, Deputy Ombudsman on Children's Rights
5/ How to implement the participation of children in expressing their views.
Speaker: Nuala Mole, Director at The AIRE Centre, Consultant for CJ/ENF-ISE
6/ What kind of education and support for parents who are separating or whose child is in care?
Speaker: Galina Markova, Doctor of Social Work, Director of the Know How Centre for Alternative Care for Children, New Bulgarian University
