The Expert Council on NGO Law publishes a study on
In relation to World Refugee Day (20 June), the Expert Council on NGO Law of the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organisations (CINGO) has just released a new thematic study titled “Civil society support to refugees and other migrants in Europe: the need to end the backlash on civil society space”.

The study finds that criminalisation, hyper-regulation and other severe restrictions on civil society space are being normalised in many European countries. This is being made worse by the increasing resort to “pushbacks” and externalisation deals with an increasing number of countries.

The study will be presented at an event organised on Friday 21 June 2024 from 14:00 to 17:00 (CEST) on the topic “Solidarity with refugees and migrants in Europe: succumbing to obstacles or upholding humanity?” by CINGO’s new Committee on Migration Issues, in cooperation with the Expert Council on NGO Law.

During this interactive event with English-French Interpretation, the guest speakers, among them Council of Europe officials, members of NGOs and other specialists with substantial expertise in the field of migrants and refugees, will address the topic through preliminary remarks, evidence-based session and recommendations.
