It is with great joy that the Intercultural Cities programme announces Riga’s membership in the international network of Intercultural Cities. Riga is the first city from Latvia to join the ICC family and the 159th ICC member!

Riga is the capital of the Republic of Latvia and the largest city in the Baltics. It was granted the city charter in 1201 and in 2001 Riga celebrated its 800 years anniversary. Historically Riga has always been a crossroads, a melting pot of various nations and cultures.

By joining the ICC programme, Riga further confirms its commitment toward building an inclusive, tolerant and diverse city based on the principles of intercultural integration approach – equality, diversity, interaction and participation.

Warm welcome to Riga!
