GREVIO is carrying out its first thematic evaluation visit of Monaco

A delegation of the Council of Europe's Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO) is carrying out an evaluation visit to Monaco from 2 to 5 October 2023. This visit is one of the steps in the 1st thematic evaluation round to monitor the implementation by Monaco of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention).

The 1st thematic evaluation round aims to address how national laws and policies in State Parties build trust, deliver support, and provide access to justice for women victims of violence, based on the questionnaire adopted by GREVIO on 13 October 2022.

The GREVIO delegation will carry out a series of meetings with representatives from different ministries and public bodies, including the Department of Social Affairs and Health, the Department of Justice, the Department of Interior, the Department of External relations and Cooperation,  the Department of Legal Affairs, the Department of Interior, the Directorate of the Judiciary, the Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports and the Committee on the Rights of Women. In addition, the GREVIO delegation will meet with national human rights institutions and representatives of non governmental organisations and civil society working to prevent and combat violence against women.

GREVIO plans to publish its first thematic evaluation report on Monaco during 2024.
