Media/Spokesperson
Defining activities:
- Drafts and issues press releases, opinion articles, information documents and other public documents for journalists;
- searches out news opportunities, follows media developments and helps journalists to process and analyses information;
- organises press-related activities (such as press conferences, interviews, background briefings, radio and television broadcasts);
- establishes and uses a network of journalists in Europe's capitals;
- uses a network of press correspondents;
- identifies links between Council of Europe stories and issues in the media.
Professional requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of the European media landscape;
- relevant qualification or relevant professional experience in journalism or media.
Media Analyst
Defining activities:
- Ensures day-to-day monitoring and analysis of the Organisation's press coverage;
- alerts relevant departments to breaking news stories.

Audiovisual
Defining activities:
- Establishes partnerships with key international broadcasters and individual TV programmes;
- ensures the photographic service of the Council of Europe, including the production and distribution of photographs;
- organises and disseminates television recordings, including direct transmissions.
Professional requirements:
- Relevant qualification or relevant professional experience in the audiovisual sector (filming, editing, web TV, radio, photo) and its techniques.
Web
Defining activities:
- Develops communication using new information technologies;
- creates and updates websites;
- prepares, develops content and/or translates news and thematic files.
Professional requirements:
- Knowledge of or experience in web editing tools.
Media Support (Assistant)
Defining activities:
- Deals with the invitation of journalists and the practical aspects of their venue (including press room and press conferences);
- prepares the layout of and distributes press releases and other information products;
- follows-up the contracts with press correspondents;
- liaises with communication units of other Directorates.
Professional requirements:
- Secretarial/administrative studies or relevant working experience.
Public Relations
Defining activities:
- Designs and executes, in coordination with the other major administrative entities, the communication-related aspects of public information campaigns highlighting the Organisation's priorities, role and achievements;
- produces and distributes publicity materials (such as brochures, leaflets, posters and CD-ROMs).
- develops policies for the harmonisation of the visual presentation of different Council of Europe products, which includes the use of the logo, symbols and flags;
- publishes, translates, and commercially distributes and markets the Organisation's publications in member States through partnerships;
- organises Council of Europe visits for groups upon internal and external requests.
Professional requirements:
- Relevant qualification or relevant professional experience in the relevant professional area (e.g. design, editing, marketing, campaigns, etc.).
Archive
Defining activities:
- Archives Council of Europe documents, be they paper or electronic resources, in compliance with the archival policy;
- contributes to developing and implementing a complete information management strategy.
Professional requirements:
- Diploma in Archiving/ Documentalist.
