On September 24, 2024, as part of the Council of Europe’s Project «Strengthening Judicial and Non-Judicial Remedies for the Human Rights Protection of the War-Affected People in Ukraine» implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine «Resilience, Recovery, and Reconstruction» 2023-2026, essential IT equipment (laptops, software) was delivered to the Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the Free Legal Aid offices amid unstable energy supply caused by the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine.

This support aims to enhance the functionality of the Free Legal Aid offices that were damaged or relocated due to the Russian Federation’s aggression against Ukraine. The provided IT equipment plays a key role in improving the efficiency and responsiveness of these offices, enabling them to better meet the growing demand for legal support among the war-affected population. The upgraded technical infrastructure will allow the Free Legal Aid system employees to provide more timely and high-quality services, even in the absence of a stable energy supply, ensuring access to consultations in the most challenging conditions.

The Council of Europe will continue supporting its national partners in upgrading the necessary IT infrastructure to protect the rights and freedoms of the war-affected people in Ukraine.

Recognizing the needs of war-affected individuals, the Council of Europe plans to expand its support, including technical assistance, knowledge sharing, and the development and implementation of advanced digital solutions. These initiatives aim not only to facilitate access to judicial and non-judicial remedies but also to ensure the creation of sustainable and long-lasting solutions for those who need it most.
