Learning through games: Gamification of training programs for prosecutors in Ukraine

On September 25-26, the Council of Europe participated in conducting the training “Gamification of Training Programs” for trainers of the Prosecutors’ Training Center of Ukraine. The event was held in partnership with the Training Center.

The trainer and moderator of the event was Ms Nataliia Rymar, a national consultant of the Council of Europe and a certified soft skills trainer.

During the training, participants, who are involved as trainers in the preparation of prosecutors, explored the possibilities and potential of implementing gamification elements into adult education programs, as well as methods of cognitive engagement.

The training also included a practical component—a trainer game titled “Trainer's Expedition: The Path to the Heart of Participants”, aimed at changing the trainers' approach to dealing with “challenging” situations during training.

Gamification of training programs is the process of incorporating game elements and mechanics into educational or training programs to increase participant engagement, motivation, and learning effectiveness.

The training was supported within the framework of the project “Fostering Human Rights in the Criminal Justice System in Ukraine”, which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, Recovery, and Reconstruction” for 2023-2026.
