Head of Council of Europe Office in Ukraine meets with Head of National Mediation and Conciliation Service of Ukraine

Maciej Janczak, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, and Mr Dmytro Kukhniuk, Head of National Mediation and Conciliation Service of Ukraine, held a meeting on 25 July 2024 in Kyiv.

The parties discussed the ongoing co-operation in the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine “Resilience, recovery and reconstruction” 2023-2026 and the dedicated project “Enhanced social protection in Ukraine” as well as potential activities in the new project.

“We fully understand the crucial role of prevention and settling of collective labour disputes, promoting social dialogue, especially in the post-war recovery phase. The Council of Europe established a fruitful co-operation with the National Mediation and Conciliation Service of Ukraine and would like to continue it within the next co-operation project”.

The Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine highlighted the professional and efficient work of the Service in developing the draft laws “On collective labour disputes” and “On social dialogue” which is supported with the Council of Europe expertise. He also highlighted the importance of ratification of the collective complaints procedure in order to provide the most comprehensive social protection framework possible to the benefit of all.

Mr Kukhniuk expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for supporting the National Mediation and Conciliation Service of Ukraine with expertise and in the organisation of the capacity building activities in co-operation with Aspen Institute Kyiv. He expressed willingness for even more fruitful co-operation in the future, including with social partners.
