Maciej Janczak, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine, and Iryna Borovets, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, held a meeting on 24 July 2024 in Kyiv.
The parties discussed the ongoing implementation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine "Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction" 2023-2026.
The Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a very good cooperation, gave a brief overview of the Council of Europe's growing activities under the Action Plan and stressed the increasing number of projects and staff present on the ground in Kyiv. Mr Janczak stressed that activities are gradually enhanced in response to very specific requests for support from Ukrainian partners, also in the context of the EU accession negotiations.
Iryna Borovets expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe for supporting the Ukrainian state in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity under Russian aggression. She particularly emphasized the important role of the Council of Europe in working towards full accountability for Russia's aggression against Ukraine and compensating all victims of the war.
