On 6 July 2023 the Sixth International Scientific and Practical Conference "Administrative Justice in Ukraine: Problems of Theory and Practice. Social Rights. Challenges of Wartime" was held online. An event was organised by the Administrative Cassation Court within the Supreme Court in cooperation with the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine and the Institute of State and Law named after V. M. Koretsky of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as international partners: the Council of Europe project "Strengthening judicial and non-judicial remedies for the human rights protection of the war-affected people in Ukraine" (hereinafter – the Project), the EU project «Право-Justice», the German Foundation of International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).
The conference brought together about 200 members of the judiciary and legal professionals. Judges of the Administrative Cassation Court and the administrative courts of other European countries, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, leading representatives of the academic community and international organisations were among the speakers of the conference.
The gathering was held within the framework of the annual Days of Administrative Justice of Ukraine, which are traditionally celebrated for the sixth year in a row. Among the key thematic areas for discussion were modern trends in the development of the welfare state, social rights in peacetime and wartime, the role of administrative justice in the effective protection of social rights, the challenges faced by the court considering social disputes. Among others, the relevant case-law of the European Court of Human Rights related to social rights and judicial protection in the context of implementation of the right to effective remedy for the war-affected people in Ukraine was discussed during the conference.
- A comprehensive collection of theses of the conference's reports and a collection of legal positions of the Supreme Court on the protection of social rights were published with the Project support.
