On 1 November 2022 the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (the Istanbul Convention) entered into force in Ukraine, sending a signal to Ukrainian society and the international community that there is zero tolerance for violence against women and girls, including domestic violence.
What will the Istanbul Convention mean for Ukrainians when it is fully applied? The new infographics and explanatory brochure, developed under the Council of Europe project “Combatting violence against women in Ukraine” (COVAW) explains the relevance of the convention, especially for women and girls, refugees, men and boys, migrants and asylum seekers, the economy, NGOs and educators.
