Webinar for child psychologists

The Council of Europe project "Combating violence against children in Ukraine" is continuing its capacity building activities aimed at professionals working for and with children in the context of a full-scale of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine. In particular, during 5-9 December 2022, two online webinars for child psychologists on the topic of "Psychological support and assistance to children who have experienced traumatic events" were held. In total more than 400 more professionals from different regions of Ukraine attended the webinar.

Over the course of four days, participants were introduced to the following topics that became relevant in the context of a full-scale invasion:

  • The latest research on trauma and evidence-based interventions;
  • Impact of a traumatic event in childhood;
  • Psychosocial support for preschool aged children;
  • Psychosocial support for school aged children and adolescents;
  • Psychosocial support for parents and carers;
  • Supporting children and adolescents with experiences of grief and loss;
  • When psychosocial support is not enough;
  • Secondary traumatization and self-care;

The Council of Europe expresses its gratitude to the Ministry of Social Policy for support in holding the event, as well as Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen and Katariina Leivo, international experts of the Council of Europe, and Nataliia Zavarova, national expert of the Council of Europe.
