Protecting the rights of refugee women: The Council of Europe migration has launched a new guide

International expert Louise Hooper presented the Guide to the implementation of the Council of Europe Recommendation on Protecting the rights of Migrant, Refugee and Asylum-Seeking Women and Girls at the 10th Meeting of the Council of Europe Network of Focal Points on Migration (NFPM). This resource empowers stakeholders with practical strategies to protect migrant, refugee and asylum seeking women and girls, responding directly to urgent needs in Ukraine and across Europe.

The Guide transforms the Council of Europe Recommendation CM/Rec (2022)17 to member states on Protecting the Rights of Migrant, Refugee and Asylum-seeking Women and Girls into actionable steps, equipping both Ukrainian stakeholders and European policymakers with concrete tools to strengthen rights protection. Presented during a gathering of Council of Europe member state representatives, experts, and officials, the guide was shown in the context new tools addressing critical migration and asylum challenges.

The Guide was developed under the Council of Europe project “Combating Violence against Women in Ukraine – Phase II” (COVAW-II).
