On September 3, 2024, under the chairmanship of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, with the support of the Council of Europe, the Inaugural Meeting of the Working Group on the preparation of the Concept of Access to the Right to Education of Young People from the Temporarily Occupied Territories was held.

The event was attended by experts from the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Council of Europe, and NGOs.

The working group was formed in July this year. It aims to provide equal opportunities for quality education for young people from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and promote their successful integration.

The working group, with the help of experts from the Council of Europe, should develop a draft Concept, which should identify general approaches and key problems of access to education for young people from the temporarily occupied territories, ways to improve such access, stimulate admission to Ukrainian educational institutions, create conditions for successful integration and adaptation of young people at the place of study, etc.

The next step of the working group is to hold individual consultations with experts on access to education for young people from the temporarily occupied territories.

The working group on the preparation of the Concept of Access to the Right to Education for Youth from the Temporarily Occupied Territories is supported by the Council of Europe project "Facilitating Access to Human Rights and Essential Services for Internally Displaced Persons and Returnees at the community level".
