The Council of Europe Project "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III" in co-operation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Institution "All-Ukrainian Youth Centre" conducted a specialised training "Trauma-informed youth work" of the State Programme "Youth Worker" for youth workers on 26-28 March 2024 in an online format upon to request. The idea of the specialised training arose during the implementation of the programme "Trauma-informed youth work" within the framework of the Council of Europe projects "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase II" and "Internal Displacement in Ukraine: Building Solutions. Phase II" in 2022.
- As a result, 22 youth workers and youth policy makers from 11 regions of Ukraine were certified.
Objectives of the training course:
- Exploring the role of youth work in the human rights context and trauma awareness.
- Exchange of practices of trauma informed youth work in Ukraine and abroad, networking between youth workers.
- Studying the peculiarities of organising and conducting training and educational activities with young people, taking into account the trauma informed approach.
The project "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III" is implemented within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2023-2026 and is based on the results and experience of the projects "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine" in 2020-2022. The project expands the systematic impact by strengthening participatory youth policy and strengthening youth work during the war and in the post-war context, taking into account the special needs of young people.
In 2022, the Council fof Europe programme "Trauma Informed Youth Work" provided the training for trainers, implementation of the training programmes in local communities in accordance with the content of the developed manual for a training course on trauma informed youth work.
