Three-day training course

The Council of Europe Project "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III" in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of   Ukraine and the State Institutions "All-Ukrainian Youth Centre" launched a training course "Trauma Informed Youth Work" of the State Programme "Youth Worker", which will take place on 26-28 July 2023. The idea of the course arose during the implementation of the programme "Trauma Informed Youth Work" within the framework of the Council of Europe projects "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase II" and "Internal Displacement in Ukraine: Developing Durable Solutions. Phase II" in 2022.

On the first day of training, the participants were greeted by Vladyslav Yatsuk, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of this event, the purpose of which is to strengthen the competencies of youth workers to implement educational and educational activities in the context of trauma informed youth work. The Deputy Minister also mentioned that he had participated in the first programme "Trauma Informed Youth Work" in 2022, which was implemented jointly  by the Council of  Europe projects and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

Liudmyla Kindrat, specialist of the Council of Europe  Project "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine", welcomed the participants and recalled  the special support of the Council of Europe European Youth Foundation for projects of youth organisations for young people from Ukraine.

 

Objectives of the training course

●          Exploring the role of youth work in the human rights context and trauma awareness.

●          Exchange of practices of trauma informed youth work in Ukraine and abroad, networking between youth workers.

●          Studying the peculiarities of organising and conducting training and educational activities with young people, taking into account the trauma informed approach.

The project "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III" is implemented within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2023-2026 and is based on the results and experience of the projects "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine" in 2020-2022.  The project will expand the systematic impact by strengthening participatory youth policy and strengthening youth work during the war and in the post-war context, taking into account the special needs of young people.

In 2022, the programme "Trauma Informed Youth Work" provided the training for  trainers, implementation of the training programmes in local communities in accordance with the content of the developed manual for a training course on trauma informed youth work.
