Webinar on Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation for the National Police, Judges and Prosecutors

On 5 October 2020, the Council of Europe project Combating violence against children in Ukraine together with the regional project End Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse @ Europe (EndOCSEA@Europe) held a Webinar on Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation for the National Police, Judges, and Prosecutors.

The main objective of the event was to support the legislative and procedural reforms, provide first-hand information on possible training opportunities and facilitate improving of capacities of law enforcement officials, judiciary and prosecutors, as well as promote multi-disciplinary interagency cooperation for end-to-end support for victims. This first webinar in Ukraine laid the basis for a more in-depth training to be held in December 2020 on the subject.

The Council of Europe experts presented and explained in detail the existing international standards on OCSEA including on possession of child sexual abuse material, the particularities of electronic evidence in relation to OCSEA and the protection of child victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings.

The webinar was attended by more than 240 stakeholders including representatives from the National Police, judges, prosecutors, and specialised educational institutions from various regions of Ukraine.

We would like to thank the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Training Center for Prosecutors, the National School of Judges, the National Academy of Internal Affairs and other partners involved for their cooperation and support in organising the webinar.
