The Council of Europe project Combating violence against women and children in Ukraine organizes on 15th of June its first project activity, a thematic workshop for civil society organisations working on women’s and children’s rights issues.
The objective of the workshop is threefold: raise the awareness of civil society organisations on the Council of Europe Conventions on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (“Lanzarote Convention”) and on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (“Istanbul Convention”); to build their capacity in organising awareness raising campaigns on these topics; and to encourage them to engage with the work of the monitoring bodies, in particular the Lanzarote Committee. 28 local civil society organisations were selected from an open call of interest to participate in the workshop.
This project, which is being implemented in 2017, aims at supporting authorities, professionals and civil society to prevent and combat violence against women and children in line with European and international standards.
This event takes place in in Odessa, in the context of an outreach event organised by the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine in collaboration with the regional authorities.
