Training of Trainers on Child-Friendly Justice and Violence against Women organised in Ukraine

The Council of Europe project Combating violence against women and children in Ukraine organised a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for the HELP courses on Child-Friendly Justice and Violence against Women and Domestic Violence on 13-15th of September 2017 in Kyiv in collaboration with the National School of Judges of Ukraine and the National Academy of Prosecution of Ukraine.

The European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) is the only pan-European Network of national training institutions for judges, prosecutors and lawyers in the 47 member states of the Council of Europe. It is an e-learning platform with free on-line courses on human rights and a human rights training methodology for legal professionals. The HELP ToTs are aimed at developing national networks of trainers who have skills and motivation to lead HELP courses with national training institutions and Bar Associations.

The project aims to support authorities, professionals, and civil society to prevent and combat violence against women and children in line with European and international standards. The HELP component of the project targets directly the judiciary and prosecutors, including those who are in direct contact with women and child victims of violence and/or dealing with cases of violence against women and children. The objective is to adapt both HELP courses into the Ukrainian legal order and launch them by the end of 2017 for a selected group of judges and prosecutors. Ukraine will be the first country to adapt the HELP courses on Child-Friendly Justice and Violence against Women and Domestic Violence thus leading the way for other countries to follow.
