The participants of the meeting discussed certain directions of reforming the Ukrainian legislation, the Law on the Constitutional Court, the reform of the electoral legislation, the Verkhovna Rada and procedural issues. In his turn, Gianni Buquicchio said that presenting the annual report on the work of the Venice Commission, he spoke a lot about Ukraine. "Cooperation between Ukraine and the Venice Commission is a story of success", he emphasized and expressed his hope for intensification of cooperation with the Ukrainian Parliament.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada informed that the work on judicial reform is systematically implemented. "This is a difficult process that raises a lot of discussions - nevertheless, we are very determined to implement it," he said, adding that the Law "On the High Council of Justice" had already been adopted, in the first reading, the bill on the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. A.Parubiy expressed the hope that this bill will be considered at the next plenary week in the second reading and in general. In the context of judicial reform, he said, amendments to the Labor Code of Ukraine are important for consideration.
The Chairman of Parliament noted that among the primary actions of the Parliament is the adoption of the law on the Constitutional Court, the reform of education, pension and medical reform. "Plans are very global. With that, we have a lot of deadlines, so we need to accelerate the consideration of important bills, at the same time, taking into account the need for public discussion and hot discussion in the Parliament, "he added.
Gianni Buquicchio emphasized that the Venice Commission endorses all initiatives that improve the internal climate in Ukraine and reform the parliament. "We are in favor of greater efficiency of work of the Verkhovna Rada for simplifying the decision-making process," he said, hoping that consideration of the Verkhovna Rada's draft laws by the Venice Commission could be completed by the end of October this year.
