The information campaign to support and promote public broadcasting was held in 5 cities of Ukraine – Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Lviv - in November 2016.
The main goal of the campaign was to raise awareness and promote public broadcasting values among the Ukrainians. Transparency, honesty, verity, independence and objectivity are the core values of public broadcasting that were reflected in the campaign.
During the November, 70 mirrored city-lights and approximately 1600 social ads for public transport were placed in 5 big cities of Ukraine - Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odessa, and Lviv. The main idea of the campaign was to remind the Ukrainians that public broadcasting belongs to the citizens. Thus, it was decided to design mirrored city-lights where people could see their reflections and remember that they determine what should be on the TV.
The reform of public broadcasting was launched in 2014 and now it is in its final stage. The Council of Europe constantly supports the process of public broadcasting establishment in Ukraine. The transformation of state broadcasters into public broadcasting channel meets the Council of Europe standards and is one of the Ukraine's obligations to the Council of Europe enshrined in Resolution 1466 (2005) “On honouring the obligations and commitments of Ukraine”.
