Issues of identification of discrimination and available tools for response have been discussed during the training for representatives of the social care sphere officials on 29-30 March 2017 in Kramatorsk. Training was organized jointly by the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human rights and Joint Programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe “Strengthening the implementation of the European human rights standards in Ukraine”.
Lack of comprehensive awareness among the respective executive officials with the definition of discrimination, its forms and grounds, and antidiscrimination legislation of Ukraine and practice of its application, are limiting the scope of tools and activities aimed on prevention and combating discrimination. This training is the first one in the series of activities planned for 2017 and is aimed at assisting to solve above-mentioned problems, disseminate knowledge on the most effective tools and activities, which could be implemented in everyday activity of the state institutions, in drafting regulations with attention to antidiscrimination expertise approach.
Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in accordance with their powers is actively working on prevention of discrimination in implementation of human rights and freedoms, and also carries out educational work for combating discrimination in Ukraine.
