Gender equality in law enforcement sector at the time of war – exchange session for the SBI

Despite the limited time and human resource during wartime, the issues of non-discrimination and gender equality are on the agenda for our partners. Today the online session “Gender equality in law enforcement agencies at the time of war. Challenges and perspectives” was held at the request of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). The SBI staff from a number of departments, as well as SBI gender focal points, discussed the following topical issues with the Council of Europe expert:

  • gender equality; challenges in perception of gender problematics within the law enforcement sector
  • how the war “shed more light” on gender issues
  • what events with a pronounced gender effect took place since the beginning of the full- scale armed aggression against Ukraine
  • what challenges are the law enforcement agencies facing, in particular the SBI
  • preconditions that outline perspectives

The event took place within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Supporting Institutions to Combat Ill-Treatment in Ukraine, Phase II”.
